Andrew Stewart Jamieson

Heraldic Artist Andrew Stewart Jamieson was born in 1961 in Bermondsey, London. In 1983 he Graduated with a First with Honours from the Salisbury College of Art (now Wiltshire College Salisbury) and Reigate School of Art in England. He studied Heraldry, Calligraphy and Manuscript Illumination for three years under one of the most widely recognized heraldic artists of the 20th century, Anthony Wood. Since that time he has worked as a freelance heraldic artist and designer, accepting commissions from the College of Arms, The Catholic Church, the Order of Malta, the Military, the City of London, the House of Lords, and many corporate and private clients, including government leaders such as the former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell. A Founder and current Chairman of the The Society of Heraldic Arts. Jamieson is "regarded as one of the best practitioners of heraldic arts in the world."

His heraldic work has even appeared on modern discography, included on the cover of the 1987 Jethro Tull LP Crest of a Knave.

In 1996 he exhibited in the "Twelve Masters of Heraldic Art' Exhibition" in the Museum of Civilization, Ottawa, Canada and later was presented with the Corel Prize for Artistic Excellence on behalf of the exhibit sponsor, the Corel Corporation.

From 1997 to 2003 he served the Crown Office helping illuminate the Peerage Patents for the House of Lords.

In 1998 he published the very successful Pitkin Guide, Coats of Arms, a small book on heraldry which has sold over 45,000 copies. That same year Jamieson was asked to join in the continuing restoration efforts of Windsor Castle which began in 1992 after the great fire.

From 2000 to 2002 Jamieson worked an illuminator on the St. Johns Bible assisting the Queen's Scribe and World's Leading Calligrapher Donald Jackson. Jamieson produced the main illumination for the end of Gospels and Acts.

In 2002 he was elected a Brother of the Art Workers Guild of London.

In 2010 the artist released his first abstract paintings. 2011 saw the release of a series of erotic paintings entitled, "The Pillow Book Diaries." The Artist divides his time between England and America.
