Background
Recording & development
Grimmie began posting covers of songs on her official YouTube account in the Summer of 2009. According to Grimmie, a friend persuaded her to post her videos on the popular video sharing website, to which she performed a cover of the Miley Cyrus hit Party in the U.S.A.. After receiving positive feedback for her performance, Grimmie began to regularly upload videos of herself performing covers. After she posted a video of herself doing a cover of another Cyrus song, (When I Look at You), Grimmie was sought out by Selena Gomez's stepfather to be her manager. Due to her popularity, Grimmie began getting media attention, leading The Hollywood Gossip to post an article about Grimmie and her music, comparing her to Selena Gomez. After the article was posted, buzz around Christina rose, and many began comparing her to fellow singer Rebecca Black, who rose to fame on YouTube as well. The comparisons only led to more interest in Grimmie. After gaining over 17,000,000 views on her videos, Grimmie began recording original material. Despite wanting to post singles on iTunes, she stated she was instructed by her manager not to do so until she had a full album's worth of material.
Composition
The music found on the album is generally pop and dance. Grimmie described the music by saying, "my music is a little bit of pop, a little bit of dance, a little bit of urban vocals [...] it's got a little bit of everything really." She also stated she was a big fan of Christina Aguilera vocals. The opening track on the extended play is Ugly. The song follows suit with releases from many other popular artist, in which they speak of self-pride and confidence. The song has been compared to tracks such as Firework, by Katy Perry and Who Says, performed by Selena Gomez & the Scene. The song exhibits qualities of dance music, as features Grimmie singing over a bass influenced beat. Unforgivable is the second track on the album, and is the first ballad. The song speaks of Grimmie forgiving someone she cares about for doing something wrong to her. The songs lyrics speak of moving on from what happened, and overcoming the struggles it brought. Advice is the third song on the album, as well as the lead promotional single. The dance influenced song speaks of having a good time, and not letting negativity affect you or ruin your good time. King of Thieves is the fourth song on the album, and features Grimmie singing over a mid-tempo, bass driven beat. The songs lyrics speak of Grimmie singing to someone who "stole her heart", and sees her demanding he give it back, as they are no longer together.
The fifth song on the album is Not Fragile. The song is different from the rest of the album's songs, as it displays qualities of rock music, mixed along with a heavy dance beat. The song's chorus has been compared to that of the single Fighter, performed by Christina Aguilera. The song sees Grimmie speaking of her strength, and how she can move past any emotional struggles. The album's title track, Find Me is the sixth song on the album. The mid-tempo dance track talks of Grimmie getting over her ex, and forget all of the times they spent together. Liar Liar is the seventh track on the album, and features Grimmie singing along with a piano. The lyrical content of the song sees Grimmie talking about the emotional pain a relationship has put her through. The song has become the most successful from the album, reaching the Top 100 on the iTunes single chart, as well as entering the Top Heatseekers single chart, without even being released as a single. The closing track is Counting, which sees Grimmie singing over a dance-pop beat, and lyrically speaks of Grimmie taking her ex lover back, and "counting the steps back to him."
Release & promotion
The album had been anticipated since the beginning of 2011, when Grimmie announced she was working on an album, to be released later that year. The album was finally released digitally on June 14, 2011. The album saw no physical release, as it is only an extended play, and not Grimmie's official debut album. The eight track set was released not only in the United States, but also in Canada, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom. Find Me was offered for a low price of $5.99, which Grimmie said was so everyone could afford to buy it. The album was promoted mainly through the use of Grimmie's official YouTube channel. Christina often posted videos informing her viewers of the album's release date. The day before the album was released, Grimmie posted a twenty to thirty second clip of each song on the album on her official channel. Also, on June 13, Grimmie made an appearance on Good Day New York, in which after giving a short interview, she performed her debut promotional single, "Advice." Later that day, she also did an interview on ABC News, in which she talked about the album, the tour, and her YouTube popularity. She also had interviews with music channel MTV, as well as ClevverTV. Grimmie also promoted the album by performing at the Concert For Hope, along with Selena Gomez & the Scene. During the concert, Christina performed two original songs, as well as one cover.
Aside from her televised performances, Grimmie also promoted the album by touring throughout the Summer of 2011, as the opening act for Hollywood Records's Selena Gomez & the Scene. Selena Gomez's father is Grimmie's manager, and booked the shows for Grimmie. The tour has 31 shows, which Grimmie will be a part of all of. All of the shows will be held in North America, and will span from cities such as St. Augustine, Fl. to Las Vegas, Nevada. Grimmie will perform first on the tour, followed by Big Time Rush, who will then introduce Gomez & the Scene. The tour, titled the We Own the Night Tour, will kick off on on July 24, 2011 in Costa Mesa, California, and end on September 12 in Puyallup, Washington, lasting nearly six weeks.

Critical reception
Find Me has been met with generally positive reviews from critics. John Beam praised the album on his official website, commenting "Find Me is a true pop album that should be used as a rubric for all future pop albums. Grimmie’s vocals are powerful like Jordin Sparks’ and soulful like Aguilera’s. From what I can hear, there is no use of auto-tune to mask Grimmie’s already talented voice. The lyrical content is also much more refreshing from what we hear daily from popular artists like Katy Perry, The Black Eyed Peas and Britney Spears. Overall, the album is AMAZING. It’s worth the purchase because each song is great in its own way. Each of its eight songs costs only $0.99 and the entire album goes for $5.99 on iTunes. Grimmie holds a wealth of maturity on this album, something not many debut artists around her age have in a first album. For those of you who haven’t heard Grimmie before, you now have an excuse to listen to her and own an album that will never grow old with you!" PolyVore also praised the album, more specifically Grimmie's vocals on the tracks. They also listed "King of Thieves", "Liar Liar" and "Counting" as standout tracks on the album.
