Per G. Norseng

Per Gudbrand Norseng (born 1951) is a Norwegian historian.

He was born in Oslo, and took the cand.philol. degree at the University of Oslo in 1983 with the paper Administrativ prisfastsettelse i det norske middelaldersamfunnet. He has been a research fellow at the University of Oslo, an associate professor at the University of Trondheim and Oslo University College, senior research librarian at the University Library of Oslo, a senior curator at the and . He was then the chief curator, and from 2010 the director of the Norwegian Maritime Museum. From 1993 to 1996 he chaired the Norwegian Historical Association.

His most important publications include Byen under Eikaberg: fra byens oppkomst til 1536, co-written with Arnved Nedkvitne. It was published in 1991 as volume one of Oslo bys historie (History of Oslo) and revised in 2000 and released as Middelalderbyen ved Bjørvika: Oslo 1000-1536. He was also the project leader of the work Østfolds historie (History of Østfold county), He co-wrote volume one and two; Øst for Folden (released 2003) and I Borgarsysle (with Sven G. Eliassen, released 2005).
