The Blackberry Torch 2, model 9810, is expected to be introduced by RIM (Research in Motion), a Canadian company, as its latest smart phone. It is expected to come as an improved version of the previously launched Blackberry Torch model 9800, which the market termed as being underpowered with comparison to other competitors’ products. The Blackberry Torch 2 closely resembles its predecessor physically, but comes with a vast variety of advanced features including a matte silver finish.

Processor and Memory

The striking specifications for this device include a powerful 1.2 GHz dual processor chip as opposed to the 600 MHz single processor of its predecessor. This enables this new device to operate all its new features effectively. 768 MB internal RAM and 8GB built-in memory storage is also included in this new design. The device has a microSD removable card slot to expand its memory capacity and faciltate external storage.

Networking

The Blackberry Torch 2 has been designed to work superbly in the latest 4G HSPA network since it possesses the tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps data connection capabilities. Moreover, the device can still manage to make connections via the quad band GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE technologies. The Blackberry Torch 2 smart phone handset is also capable of accessing Wi-Fi network connections at 802/11n effectively. The phone can also be suitably connected by Bluetooth to other Bluetooth enabled devices through its Bluetooth 2.1 capability. The new Blackberry Torch 2 is operated through the Blackberry Operating System – OS 7 (formerly OS 6.1), enabling it to feature the OpenGL ES support, together with new APIs for several other features. These features enable the blackberry torch 2 to focus on geo-location in several ways. Through these features, the device has a GPS navigation system installed to aid the user in their navigation and whereabouts details.

Display and Camera

The blackberry torch 2 Smartphone is also NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled and is powered through its 1300 mAh battery. The device has been installed with a 3.2-inch HVGA 640 by 480 capacitive touch screen display which is accompanied by a horizontal slider QWERTY keypad. This comes with its state of the art Accelerometer and proximity sensor. A new sensor feature that has been installed, and not possessed by its predecessor, is the Magnetometer.
