Anne Schäfer (born 1 March 1987 in Apolda, East Germany) is a German tennis player who turned professional in 2005.
Early life and education
Schäfer started playing tennis when she was seven years old. After completing her abitur in 2005 with an average mark of 1.5 and the main subjects mathematics and biology, and completing a voluntary social year, she started studying economics at the FernUniversität Hagen in 2006.
Career
After turning professional in 2005, Schäfer won five ITF $10,000 tournaments in 2006. In 2009, she achieved a WTA ranking of 161 and played in the qualifiers of three Grand Slam tournaments, winning one qualifying match. In 2010, she won a further two ITF $10,000 tournaments.
